State of the Tobacco Control

The 7th annual State of the Tobacco Control: 2008 report was released on January 13, 2009. This national report card analyzes state tobacco control laws in four key areas—smokefree air, tobacco control program funding, cigarette taxes and youth access to tobacco. Oregon scored the following grades: an "A" in smokefree air due to the new smokefree workplace law, a "D" for cigarette tax, an "F" in tobacco prevention and control spending, and a "B" for smoking cessation coverage.
